A Big Costa Rican Adventure at La Amistad International Park

Thank author of this post/comment

Somewhere along the borders of Panama and Costa Rica is Central America's largest rainforest reserve, with over 401,000 hectares of rainforest space divided equally between the two nations. This rainforest reserve is called the La Amistad International Park (or Parque Internacional de la Amistad in Spanish).

Not much is known about this rainforest yet, owing to the rough terrain that the rainforest park encompasses. During the previous years, however, there has been significant improvement in explorations as more scientists got deeper into the natural reserve.

The rough terrain plus the mysterious atmoshere in this international park makes for a great place where nature lovers can have an adventure of a lifetime. This is the most physically demanding adventure that one can have in Central America. It is only accessible via road and it features no less than river crossings, mountain trekkings, and similar other trails before you can even go to the heart of the rainforest reserve.

Once here, you'll see that the Bocas del Toro section of the park offers a great location where one can go bird watching. Similarly, the Chiriqui section allows for short trails where you can go hiking. The Costa Rican side of the international park also offers similar types of adventures for those who are hungry for some kind of adrenaline-pumping trip. Located about 2,000 meters above sea level, you just also have to prepare yourself for the high altitude.

This kinds of opportunities for a rough adventure do not often come out. If you're really interested in something that will test your limits around this region, then the La Amistad International Park is the perfect place to be in.

For more information about the international park, do check out this article from this travel website. I think you can also book some tours to the place from there. Have fun while you're on that great adventure trip.
